Our Terms Of Business

It is always our intention to provide all of our students with the highest quality Music tuition we can, delivered in a fun an enjoyable way. We have developed the following terms of business to help the continued smooth running of the school as a whole and to allow us to protect all individuals that attend our lessons, our staff and the company. If there are any aspects of these terms that you require further information on please do not hesitate to ask any member of staff who will be pleased to explain why the rules are necessary and the background to them.

Presto Music is a trading name of Presto Development Services Limited (PDSL) referred to in this document as Presto. The registered office for PDSL is unit 8 Bankside, Crosfield Street Warrington Cheshire WA1 1UP telephone 01925 577715

All potential students are required to complete a free assessment lesson prior to a place being offered to them at the school. All lesson places are offered at the School Manager's discretion.

All mobile phones must be switched off during lessons.

Smoking and chewing gum are not permitted anywhere within the premises.

Unruly behaviour will not be tolerated. We take the welfare of our staff very seriously and therefore reserve the right to permanently exclude anyone from the school who disrupts classes or is verbally or physically abusive in any way to any member of staff or customer.

We reserve the right to adjust the timing or location of scheduled lessons for logistical, commercial or operational reasons.

It is expected that all students will arrive promptly for their lessons, with clean hands and all necessary tuition books and material required for each lesson (course books and sheet music recommended to you by your tutor).

Presto Staff are not responsible for the safety of any student before or after their allocated class time or during any period of time where the student is absent from the class (e.g. toilet visits). It is expected that the parents or carers of all Junior student will escort them personally into the school for their lessons and collect them punctually at the end of every session.

Parents and Carers are welcome to wait for students in the waiting area. To avoid distraction to students, parents are reminded that the waiting areas are quiet zones.

In order to promote independence, avoid unnecessary disturbance to classes and to allow teaching staff to create a highly effective and quality educational experience, parents and carers of Junior students are requested to encourage their child to join lessons unattended.

For your peace of mind, all of our studios are equipped with glass viewing panels and your child's teacher will provide plenty of opportunity for you to observe progress at our regular performance events, assessments and 'open class demonstrations'.

Food and drinks are not permitted in the teaching studios other than for Vocal sessions where we advise all students to bring a sealed bottle of water.

All students will be given home based development tasks by their tutor during each class. It is expected that students will endeavour to complete all practice and/or work set in each lesson prior to their next lesson to avoid disruption to lesson plans.

Parents and Carers are expected to provide a suitable instrument and/or additional equipment appropriate for their child's level at home. Please feel free to ask any member of staff should you require any advice or assistance in this area.

Communication - As an environmentally conscious organisation, we endeavour to promote a green and paperless environment wherever possible in our business. For this reason, it is a requirement that all customers supply a valid email address and/or Mobile telephone number wherever possible in order to minimise necessary paper based communications.

Fees – With the exception of the first month tuition fees which can be paid for by Cash, Credit or Debit cards Lesson fees must be paid monthly in advance by Direct Debit. Lesson vouchers can be purchased from reception or online at www.PrestoMusicSchool.co.uk.

All late payments or returned direct debits will incur a surcharge of £5.00 which reflects the additional internal administration costs involved. We reserve the right to exclude any student from the school whose fees are persistently late.

Assessments - At Presto we pride ourselves on our ability to develop musicians and we are currently introducing independent quarterly Assessments for most students as a way of recognising progress, attainment and musical ability. Assessments are completed by accredited senior members of staff and are paid for separately as they are in addition to the regular weekly classes.

In return for your monthly fee Presto will provide one lesson per week for 48 weeks of the year. This is because we would normally expect students to be away from the school for at least two weeks of the year due to holidays plus the school is normally closed during the Christmas period.

It should be noted that he school is normally open for 50 weeks of the year and students are welcome to attend these additional classes should they wish in lieu of holidays.

The school will close on all statutory holidays. Lessons which clash with Bank Holidays will be rearranged to the nearest available weekday (normally the Friday before a Bank Holiday Monday) these arrangements will be communicated locally in advance of each holiday.

Based on feedback from parents and carers during local school holiday dates, the school timetable may be consolidated which means your regular weekly lesson time could take place at a revised time (temporarily). We will advise you of any changes and alternatives should this arise.

If the regular tutor is unavailable due to a planned absence Presto will provide a deputy tutor and these arrangements will normally be communicated in class in advance of the absence. Where teachers are unavailable due to unplanned absences such as medical reasons or conditions beyond our control we reserve the right to provide a substitute teacher without notice or in extreme circumstances to reschedule the class.

Like most businesses Presto runs a variety of introductory Marketing promotions and special offers during the course of the year to attract new customers or to encourage existing students to try something new. Where promotions are offered they normally come with specific conditions which vary our standard terms of business e.g. they may be time bound, available to specific target groups (e.g. new customers only) or limit the range of services normally available to customers all conditions will be explained in detail at the time of acceptance.

Should you choose to leave the school, we require 30 days advance notice in writing addressed to the Managing Director. The 30 day notice period will commence on the date of receipt. Please send all correspondence and any feedback you may wish to express for the attention of:
